Paul: I am very impressed with the professionalism of this podcast! I knew you were a great storyteller, but this podcast is awesome! You left out a key point about Cermak: He was killed by an assassin in Miami in 1933, who targeted FDR, but his aim was spoiled by a woman wielding a purse. Yes, there is a Cermak Road, which is an L stop in Chicago. But I think the most valuable lesson we can all take away from this incident is that if you are due to appear in court on criminal charges, for God’s sake, don’t take your son to a baseball game. I also included Al Capone in a Rule of Three column from a few years ago - apparently, Al was a buddy of the owner of my hometown ice cream shop. .
Thanks for that review, Bill! (I'm treating it as a review). I didn't even know Cermak was a mayor until researching this story, and yes, his accidental death is definitely the most interesting part of his biography, which is not what you want.
