I’m glad you brought this up; as I remember him hitting the gull on the fly & that’s not how it occurred. He was an outfield genius in my opinion hitting the catcher from the outfield on the fly. He was strong, precise & an asset to any team.
He was also a good hearted man donating $250,000 back in the ‘80’s to Hackensack Hospital
The idea of it being malicious just doesn't hold up to any kind of scrutiny. The biggest mystery of intent in the story is why and how one Toronto police officer was able to create this kind of incident. I imagine some procedures were rewritten in the wake of this incident.
To hit a bird on a bounce is pretty good in my opinion.
So I think that was obviously unintentional.
I have a Canadian friend I talk to once in awhile so next time we chat I’m gonna have to read him the riot act & get to the bottom of this.
Of course now ALL of Canada hates us so maybe I’ll pass on the riot act but I definitely want answers!
PS-At one time the Jays owned the world’s largest Jumbotron. I wish I had been there to see it. Of course in today’s world they’re even bigger.
