P3.18 Gallimaufry

"Baseball equipment" is marked with CC0 1.0.

With so much extensively-researched and carefully-structured long-form writing, we’ll occasionally need to change things up and act like we’re writing on the Internet. In those moments, particularly after the end of a bigger story, we’ll publish a Gallimaufry.

“Gallimaufry” is a delightful word we first learned from reading one of baseball’s greatest blogs, Fire Joe Morgan. A gallimaufry is a jumble, a confused medley of disparate things, and after three weeks of tight, organized writing, we’ll cut loose for our final post before the calendar flips.

A P3.18 Gallimaufry might include any of the following:

  • Relevant news and commentary

  • Non-baseball stories

  • Thoughts on writing, or history

  • Reader submissions

  • Personal anecdotes or reminisces

  • Very short subject pieces

  • Weird ads we find reading back issues of the Sporting News

  • Anything else (you’ve been warned)
